How to Safely Lop and Prune Trees

There are many reasons why a tree may need pruning or lopping, here are a few possibilities:

Strong winds have caused damage and rendered branches unsafe.

Pruning out diseased or unhealthy looking branches may help the tree to survive for many more years.

Many trees become congested in the centre as branches cross. Branches rubbing together as the wind blows can cause damage and allow disease to enter the tree. Light pruning removing the centre removes the possible cause and also lets in air and light.

The tree in question has become overgrown stopping light reaching plants or shrubs in the understory or even seriously reducing light into the house.

Whatever the reason a little tree surgery may be called for.
